New Jerseyβs Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) deliver high quality health care to all people regardless of their ability to pay.
You donβt need health insurance to receive care at a health center. They serve the uninsured as well as patients with Medicaid, NJ FamilyCare, Medicare and private insurance.
Important Tips:Β
If your Medicaid is pending:
Tell the clinic staff that you have submitted an application and that it is pending.
If you have any proof of your Medicaid application, you can bring that with you.
You can ask the clinic to apply for a one-time temporary Medicaid, Presumptive Eligibility Medicaid, to cover the cost of your visit.
You may be asked to pay a fee based on your income.
Β
If you are not eligible for Medicaid:
You still have a right to receive medical care at these clinics.
Ask if you are eligible for the Charity Care program.
If you do not qualify for Charity Care, or if the program is not available, you will be asked to pay a fee, but that fee is based on your income.
You should not be turned away because of lack of funds.Β
