Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
The program offers: Helps pay for heating costs and some cooling expenses needed for medical reasons.
Who can apply: Households with low income, including those with heating and cooling costs included in rent.
How to apply: Click here to apply online, or use a paper application from www.energyassistance.nj.gov, or call 2-1-1.
Applications are accepted from October 1st to June 30th each year.
Universal Service Fund (USF)
The program offers: Helps pay for electric and natural gas bills with a monthly credit based on income and energy costs.
Who can apply: Households with low income.
How to apply: Apply online at www.nj.gov/dca/dcaid, use a paper application from www.energyassistance.nj.gov, or call 2-1-
Applications are accepted year-round.
